Trusting His outcome

Trust is a fragile thing- it isn't easily earned nor easily given. Yet when it comes to trusting God I think we all would say that we do trust Him.

However, when the unexpected happens or when the unknown still stays unknown, when we are are treading in over our heads, when things are out of our control- that trust gets put to the test.

I have lived just long enough to know that trusting God is not about my trusting that things will go my way.

It's about trusting God with the outcome.

It's about trusting Him with the bigger picture.

Trusting that even though things may not go as planned, even though some endeavours completely flop, even if I tampered with what could have been successful, even if things of value to me where lost in the process, even if He leads me down a road I would have never chosen for myself-  even then, I can trust Him and know that something good can come out of it.

This hasn't come naturally to me. I would rather pray, " I trust you Lord to do  __________!" (fill in the blank). It's another thing to pray, " Lord, I trust you regardless! I trust you with the outcome."

We have to remind our hearts daily of whom we will trust. When our fears rise up we need to face them in prayer, in worship, and with Scripture, reminding our often thick skulls and weary hearts, why our God is worthy of being trusted with the process and trusted with the outcome.

Life will have its share of challenging scenarios, but at the end of the day, it's our choosing to trust God that will make these situations things that help us grow, have more of His heart, and allow us to experience more of His grace and peace

It may not make these things less painful. But when God is our anchor, we are unsinkable. Life's storms can't take us down, but they offer us the opportunity to draw closer to our Saviour. And it's that deeper revelation of Him that produces in us an unshakeable trust that will help us wether whatever may come.

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
